Flowers have always been one of my favourite subjects to paint, in particular wild flowers. Wherever you live, you never have to travel far to see and enjoy them – many of the flowers I paint are from photos I’ve taken at Stanley Park throughout the summer.

When I saw the sculpture of Elmer, I knew I wanted to challenge myself to paint that little bit brighter and bolder. My main focus was to create a vibrant, fun, floaty feel and a sense of movement amongst the petals, bringing Elmer to life.
